A rainy day

A rainy day

Missoni umbrella, Marc Jacobs doctor's bag, Mel Shoes rain boots, Rick Owens sweater, Lindex.com trousers, alpace cape, Bina hat, River Island enamel bow necklace

Today in Milan it rains and the temperatures are lowered drastically.   As my Swedish friends say: “there is no bad weather, but only bad clothes”.
So this rainy day has inspired me this look. What could be better than a pair of nice rain boots, a beautiful umbrella, a warm hat to repair your head from the cold autumn air and an alpaca cape to face the rain.

Beauty routine

I can’t believe I will be 41 in some weeks (the 8th November), even if the age has never been a problem for me. While most women close to forty begin to worry about the time that passes inexorably marking their bodies and their faces, fortunately I have preserved the looking of a twenty-five girl. This is the age that most people think I am. Many people ask me which is the secret of my juvenility, but I don’t think there is one in particular.
I have never used any make-up except from a thin layer of mascara and a lip gloss and I have never spent my money in the last expensive cosmetics that promises miracles. My beauty routine, in fact, simply consist in washing my face in the morning and in the evening with a mild soap and then applying a good cream and an anti-aging eye treatment.
As I have a healthy lifestyle, I am very careful in the choice of cosmetics. I always try to choose products made with natural ingredients. One of my favourite brand is Lavera, a German company specialized in organic cosmetics and mineral make-up. At the moment I am using their anti-aging day and eye cream with hyaluronic acid, karanja oil, CoQ10 and white tea that nourish the skin and protect against free radicals.

Other favourite Lavera products: hair styling gel and a lip balm with organic evening primrose oil amd mineral pigments for a year round sun protection

My mother's vintage bag

Recently I'm rediscovering the love for vintage things. How I would like wearing some of the clothes and shoes that belonged to the wardrobe of my mum and that, unfortunately, I could see only in the old family photos. My mother, in fact, had the bad idea to get rid of each garment and accessory, saving only some jewels that I will show you in the next posts and a couple of bags.
Ransacking in an old wooden  cupboard, closed by a small metal key, in the apartment belonged to my grandparents I have found a lovely handbag in white leather, with golden profiles that dates back to the late sixties that now has become mine.

My new jewel box

One of my favourite hobby is reading. As a good reader, I like reading a bit of everything, from novels to wellness and psichology books and once a month I can’t get out of dedicating a bit of my spare time to my favourite fashion magazine: Elle.
This year Elle Italy has celebrated the 25th anniversary with a special collection issue. For the occasion the monthly review has been divided into four magazines, collected in a nice stiff card-board box that I turned into a jewel box using as division some simple cards. And here is the final result. What do you think? Do you like my new jewel box designed by Elle?

Here I am again

One and a half year has already passed since the last time I wrote on my blog. In the last year I dedicate all my energy and time to my job, since I am not a professional style and fashion blogger.
In my real life, in fact, I teach Italian for foreigners to students from all over the world, with one-to-one and online lessons. If you are curious you can give a look at my Italian language blog http://youritaliantutor.blogspot.com.
But despite my beloved job, I missed Sips of Style. So now I think it has come the time to brush up my style and fashion blog. Perhaps the unexpected visit of a beautiful ladybug in my kitchen will bring me a lot of luck.
